\nI interlock my fingers to pray,
\nAnd so to the ground I lay,
\nAnd close my eyes to welcome the darkness,
\nAnd for sure darkness came,
\nThe darkness of the young mothers, who clean people?s fabrics,
\nThe darkness of the young mothers, who sell groundnuts by the roadside,
\nSome are widows,
\nSome confused, abused and used; by their ?better halves?
\nWho fall under the tag, ?CERTIFIED ALCOHOLICS?
\nAnd so I open my eyes and take a stroll,
\nAnd I see this confused society?s fall,
\nThe situation is actual and serious after all,
\nMothers never got the opportunity to sit before a teacher,
\nNever got the opportunity to face the chalkboard,
\nThe opportunity to manipulate a pen and a paper,
\nAnd so they struggle to change the situation,
\nTo get rid of the undesired destination,
\nFor their kids, they strive to do all these,
\nAnd with the little pennies they get from their hustles,
\nTheir kids manage to hold a pen and a notepad,
\nFeed their ever-hungry stomachs,
\nPay rent for their tiny mud-built structures,
\nBut before the month ends,Debts, debts and debts come flowing,
\nSchool fees has always been the struggle,
\nAnd the kids are used to these unfortunate lifestyles,
\nThey are forced to take off their tattered uniforms,
\nAnd they work in every aspect,
\nTo help their mothers hustle for the day,
\nWhile hoping a Messiah will come their way,
\nTo cast these problems and sorrows away!
